AERL posts strong growth

Junket operator Asia Entertainment & Resources Ltd. (AERL) posted a US$1.92 billion (MOP15.36 billion) unaudited rolling chip turnover for last month, the company announced. That denotes a 189 percent increase year-over-year. It compares with a year-over-year increase in gross gaming revenue for Macau of 39 percent for September 2011. “While we are aware of recent concerns that have been raised about the Macau VIP business, we can firmly say we have not seen any decrease in demand or growth in terms of the VIP market,” said AERL chairman Lam Man Pou. For the first nine months of the year, AERL’s rolling chip turnover was US$14.36 billion – an average of $1.595 billion per month – up 113 percent year-over-year. AERL operates VIP rooms at StarWorld, The Venetian Macao and Galaxy Macau.
