AIPIM presents freedom of the press report to GCS

A report entitled ‘Portrait of freedom of the press and access to sources of information in the exercise of the journalistic profession in Macau,’ produced by the Macau Portuguese and English Press Association (AIPIM) was delivered yesterday to the Director of the Government Information Bureau (GCS) and Spokesperson of the Macau SAR Government, Victor Chan, by AIPIM representatives.
The report was made public on September 27.
During the event, AIPIM conveyed the concerns expressed by the journalists and media workers who participated in the survey, highlighting current difficulties obstructing the access to official information, including the judiciary system, the executive power, and legislative body and public administration.
Concerns and criticisms were also raised with regard to the operation of the Government Spokesperson system.
AIPIM opined that the report could aid the local journalistic community and various institutions to promote greater transparency and better communication between the parties.
