The incumbent president and vice president, as well as the former president of the city's Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) have been suspended due to illegal recruitment practices uncovered by the Commission Against Corruption last year

Macau (MNA) – The incumbent and vice president, as well as the former president of the city’s Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) have been suspended due to illegal recruitment practices between 2010 and 2015, which have been uncovered by the Commission Against Corruption last year.

According to a press release posted by the Secretariat Office for Social Affairs and Culture on Thursday, the incumbent IC president Leung Hio Ming and vice-president Chan Peng Fai are suspended for 45 and 10 days, respectively, while Guilherme Ung Vai Meng, the former head of IC, will be suspended for 60 days.

Mr. Leung and Mr. Chan have both presented their resignations, which have been accepted with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng recommended Cecilia Tse Heng Sai, the vice-president of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) to be appointed as the president of IC.
