DSF receives 300 opinions for budget framework law amendments

The Financial Services Bureau (DSF) says it received some 300 opinions for the drafted bill amending the city’s budget framework law during the public consultation session lasting from July 7 to August 20. The Bureau said society primarily agree with the direction of the amendments, which suggests increasing the transparency of budgets and enhancing the Legislative Assembly’s power to supervise the execution of the budget. Some opinions indicate, however, that the amendments may not prevent infrastructure projects from running over budget and being delayed, according to DSF. The Bureau said a summary report for the consultation will be released shortly.
