Macau | Farfus tops FIA GT World Cup qualification – Grand Prix

Macau (MNA) – Brazilian driver Augusto Farfus finished first in the qualification race of the SJM Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup this Saturday and will start in pole position on the final race.

This is the third visit of Farfus to Macau with the BMW driver having finished 4th last year.

Despite starting first in the grid, Italian driver Raffale Marciello from the Mercedes-AMG Team, dropped to 2nd with two-time Macau winner, Maro Engel finishing in 3rd.

Porsche driver and winner of the GT cup in 2016, Laurens Vanthoor, had to drop from the race after a clash with Edoardo Mortara in the first laps of the race, who finished in the same starting grid position at 4th.

The four-time winner of the competition was being investigated by the Grand Prix Organising Committee for the clash.
