The First International Film Festival & Awards, Macao

Organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA), the First International Film Festival & Awards, Macau (IFFAM) is scheduled to take place at The Macao Cultural Centre, and other venues around the city, from 8-13 December 2016.
The competition will feature 10 to 12 new international films, with a focus on genre titles. Joining Festival Director Marco Mueller – who has previously headed the Locarno, Venice and Rome festivals – are a selection team that includes: Deepti D’Cunha (India), Shan Dongbing (China), Marie-Pierre Duhamel (Western Europe), Sandra Hebron (U.S. and U.K.), Diego Lerer (Latin America), Tomita Mikiko (Japan), Alena Shumakova (Russia, CIS and East Europe).
Aside from the competition, programming includes non-competitive strands and educational activities.
Gala, showcases six important works from the second half of the year; Hidden Dragons, represents the latest trends in contemporary Asian genre cinema; Best of Fest Panorama is a strand containing award winning films from other major festivals; and Crossfire features 12 non-East Asian, non-US genre films selected by twelve major East Asian film directors.
The event is expected to attract international buyers, distributors, investors, directors, producers and stars from the industry, as well as media and representatives from other major film festivals around the world, becoming a major annual event for Macau.
