Gaming spending more electricity

The electricity bill of Macau’s gaming operators continues to rise. Data released yesterday by the Statistics and Census Service shows that the gaming sector’s electricity consumption reached 327 million kWh in the first three months of 2012, up by 18.3 percent year-on-year. The figures were partially influenced by the opening of Galaxy Macau in May last year. Overall, the business sector’s electricity consumption reached 646 million kWh in the first quarter, up by 12.3 percent year-on-year. Household consumption also increased by 7.8 percent, to 138 million kWh.
