Huge price variations in milk powder

The latest price survey on milk powder by the Consumer Council shows that the same brand can cost over 30 percent more in different drugstores and supermarkets. For the survey, the council collected prices of eight brands of milk powder on February 28 – mainly infant formulas for new-born babies – from 28 retail outlets, including drugstores and supermarkets. Macau has faced a severe shortage of milk powder following the city’s baby boom in the Year of the Dragon, and increased demand from mainland visitors.
