The unemployment rate was 1.7 percent in the three months ended September 30, the same as in the trimester ended August 31, official data show. The Statistics and Census Service says the underemployment rate was 0.3 percent, also unchanged. The number of workers in employment rose by 3,400 to 392,100. The number of unemployed workers fell by 200 to 6,600. The labour force numbered 398,700 and the labour force participation rate was 74 percent.
