Macau | Some 100 Tesla models sold in the city so far

Macau (MNA) – A representative from American electric car manufacturer Tesla told Macau News Agency (MNA) that it has sold some 100 cars so far in the Macau SAR.

About half of the cars sold were the Model S, with the other half SUV Model X.

The first orders of Tesla’s Model S were delivered at the beginning of 2017, with Model X orders delivered later in the year.

The same representative further said that the company’s lower cost Model 3 would be available for drivers in the city by the end of 2019.

With the Model S and Model X commanding prices at some US$74,500 and US$130,000, respectively, Tesla’s Model 3 is the company’s first foray into the luxury car market with a planned asking price of some US$35,000.

In August 2016, the company opened its first supercharger station in the MSAR in Studio City, with the capacity to charge half of the car’s battery in 20 minutes and fully charge the power unit within one hour.

According to the Tesla representative who spoke to MNA, the company plans to open another supercharger station in the city by the end of this year, with Tesla models currently being able to be charged in any of the city’s 106 electric vehicle charging stations.
