Macau | 777 people resorted to typhoon shelters, 5,827 people evacuated

The Social Affairs Bureau informed that as of 8:30 am around 777 people resorted to the 16 Tropical Storm Shelter Centers opened in Macau due to the passage of Typhoon Mangkhut, with some 5,827 residents living in low-lying areas having been evacuated

Macau (MNA) – The Social Affairs Bureau (IAS) informed that as of 8:30 am around 777 people resorted to the 16 Tropical Storm Shelter Centers opened in Macau due to the passage of Typhoon Mangkhut.

Authorities informed on Saturday that residents in low-lying areas were to be evacuated at 9:00 pm due to red storm surge warning.

Some 5,827 were evacuated from their houses due to flood risk, with the head of the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), Raymond Tam, having predicted on Saturday that around 21,000 people will need to be evacuated, with the sixteen shelters able accommodate 24,000 people
