Macau | AL decided “to ignore the power and dignity” as an independent entity – Sulu Sou

Macau (MNA) – The majority of legislators decided to ignore the power and dignity of the Legislative Assembly (AL) as an independent entity, legislator Sulu Sou Ka Hou remarked to the press following the announcement of his suspension at the AL on Monday.

Saying first the word “regret”, Mr. Sou argued that his supporters should “not feel despair or give up.”

“Please transfer the wrath into energy to continue building a better future for the city,” said the suspended legislator.

Mr. Sou said he and his team will prepare for the coming judicial procedure in the following days.

The suspension will start on Tuesday, according to the AL regulations.

“I feel regret that the legislators did not discuss the core issue during the meeting just now,” said Mr. Sou. “The core issue is why the AL, an independent entity from the judicial and administrative branches, would have to decide that a legislator should have his position suspended in order to attend trial?”

Regarding a comment made during a radio programme on Monday saying that Mr. Sou is similar to the triads for seemingly trying to get away from the accusations of public disobedience brought against him, the legislator said the problem is a lack of transparency of meetings held by the standing committees at the AL.

Asked whether he would be supporting a protest, Mr. Sou reiterated that he does not want to use public opinion to put pressure on the judicial sector.

Mr. Sou said his office will continue to operate despite his suspension.

Around ten supporters who had also attended the plenary meeting raised up their hands and made a ‘cross’ sign to express their objection to the decision made at the AL in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, while talking with the press, Mr. Sou spotted two suspicious people who were filming while the press was interviewing him. The press asked whether they were assigned by the government or the Public Security Police Force (PSP) but one of the individuals did not reply to any questions from the press.
