Macau | British pilot Glenn Irwin first at motorcycle practice run – Macau Grand Prix

Macau | (MNA) – British pilot Glenn Irwin maintained his last year’s form to achieve a first place position at the inaugural practice run of the 51st Suncity Group Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix after having started fourth in the grid.

Running for the second time at the circuit, he managed 2.26.022 at the helm of his Ducati 1199RS, finishing first in the last lap.

Just 1.430 seconds behind was eight-times Macau winner, Michael Rutter, with the 45-year-old British rider intent on breaking his 20 year dry spell of first podium wins at the 6.2km Guia Circuit.

In third with 2.28 minutes as Austrian pilot Horst Saiger from Saiger Racing Kawasaki, deemed as the most promising non-British contender for the two-wheel race.

Last year’s winner Peter Hickman finished 7th in the practice run, behind last year’s runners-up Martin Jessopp.
