Macau | Canidrome owner says working to rehouse greyhounds “every day”

Macau (MNA) – Legislator Angela Leong On Kei, owner of the Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome and Macau Jockey Club, told media on Friday that she was working “every day” to rehouse the greyhounds remaining on the Canidrome premises.

On Thursday, the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau (DICJ) has rejected the extension requested by the Canidrome to use its facilities for another 120 days.

The Civic and Municipal Bureau followed suit, ordering the Canidrome to ‘immediately deliver a concrete plan for the relocation of the greyhounds.’

Both bureaus stressed the deadline for the Canidrome to close its doors on July 20 had been public knowledge for two years.

Leong told media to look for updates on the website of the Macau Jockey Club, and declined to comment further.

However, an additional detail of the plan given to the DICJ to make use of the Macau Jockey Club facilities had not yet been approved as of yesterday.
