Macau | Cash handout to go up to MOP10,000 – Media

Macau (MNA) –  The Macau Chief Executive, Fernando Chui Sai On, will announce in its 2019 Policy Address that the annual cash handout to local permanent residents will increase to MOP10,000 (US$1,239) from the previous MOP9,000, TDM Radio reported.

Previously a political commentator stated to Macau News Agency (MNA) that social discontent over the government handling of Typhoon Hato would likely led authorities to increase the cash hand.

The CE is to announce its 2019 Policy Address at the Legislative Assembly (AL) on Thursday.

The last change to the scheme known as the Wealth Partaking Scheme had been enforced in the 2014 fiscal year, with local permanent residents entitled to receive MOP9,000 and non-permanent residents MOP5,400.

When the scheme was first implemented in 2008, permanent residents would receive MOP5,000 with non-residents receiving MOP3,000.
