Macau | Cultural Affairs Bureau head still on sick leave with return date unknown – Secretary Alexis Tam

Macau (MNA) – Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam said this Wednesday he is “worried” about the health of newly appointed Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Cecilia Tse.

On December 19, Ms. Tse started her two-year tenure as the new IC head, with Secretary Alexis Tam stating during the previous weekend that the new appointee had been on sick leave for more than two weeks.

Speaking on the sidelines of the kick-off ceremony of ‘2018 Macau Year of Gastronomy’ held today, Secretary Tam said Ms. Tse is still on sick leave and that he “didn’t know when she would come back”.

The Secretary did not provide any details about the illness that has affected the recently appointed IC President.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Tse had acted as Vice-President of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) since 2013 and was recommended by the Secretary after incumbent IC President Leung Hio Ming resigned due to suspension for malpractice.
