Macau | Customer new plans prevents Lamborghini participation - Grand Prix

One of the most successful GT brands is missing in this year’s Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup race grid at Macau. Italian super-luxury carmaker Lamborghini didn’t make into the grid in this year’s edition of the Macau Grand Prix due to the region partner’s new plan for racing

Macau (MNA) – China’s car market plays a great role in Lamborghini road car sales today. In the last few days the luxury sportscar brand has been organizing a track day event in the neighbour city of Zhuhai as well as Lamborghini Macau launched a Macau Grand Prix-themed exhibition in one of the most prominent outlets in town.

However, in racing the Santa’Agata Bolognese company competes with customer teams who have chosen the Huracán GT3 model as their racing car.

“Our reference team in Asia is FFF Racing Team by ACM, who recently won the Blancpain GT Series Asia, and actually they are focused on next year program”, told a Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. spokesperson to MNA.

“They’re opening an European base. So there’s no time to prepare properly a demanding race like Macau.”

Huracan GT3, introduced in 2015, has won 12 international titles as well as class wins this year in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Yet it never celebrated great success on the 6.2km Guia Circuit unlike its predecessor, the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, who won the Macau GT Cup race in 2009 and 2010 with the Japanese driver Keita Sawa
