Macau (MNA) – Local racer André Couto confirmed to Macau News Agency (MNA) that he will drive for Bentley Motors official GT race team at the Blancpain GT Series Asia championship final calendar race held at the Ningbo International Circuit in Mainland China between October 13 and 14.
The Blancpain GT Series Asia is a multi-class GT championship predominantly catering for GT3 and GT4 cars, who compete on-track simultaneously but fight for their own class victory, with two drivers per car.
“It’s one of the strongest GT competitions here in Asia, without taking Japan in consideration, obviously. The championship has several brands competing, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes and Bentley. I was invited to race for Bentley,” Couto told MNA.
According to the competition website, the British luxury car manufacturer is competing with its new Bentley Continental GT3 with Couto racing for team Phoenix Racing Asia.
Macau female driver, Diana Rosario, will also run in the race alongside Chinese driver, Naomi Zhang, at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT4 run for Craft-Bamboo Racing, the first all-female crew ever to contest a GT race held in China.
Couto recently took part in the SIC 888 Kilometer Endurance Race held at the Shanghai International Circuit between October 4 and 7 but despite leading for most of the race was forced to abandon it after his car’s drive shaft broke.
