Macau (MNA) – The Financial Services Bureau (DSF) has indicated in its 2019 summarised annual budget table that it expects to collect some MOP98.22 billion in gaming taxes this year, about 13 per cent more than in last year.
The effective gaming tax rate in Macau ranges between 38 to 39 per cent, with a 35 per cent tax on gross gaming revenue, a 1.6 per cent contributtion to the Macao Foundation, plus a 2.4 per cent in contributions to urban development, promote tourism and social security, aside from SJM which is entitled a 1.4 per cent tax in agreement to provide dredging services.
Most of the collected amount in gaming taxes, some MOP98.04 billion is expected to come from games of fortune, with instant and sports lottery tax revenue expected to drop 1.3 per cent to MOP181.2 million.
Special gaming tax on games of fortune is estimated to collect some MOP91 billion, with MOP1.4 billion in premiums, MOP5.2 billion on contributions to urban development, promote tourism and social security, and MOP360 million on tax on commission from casino junkets.
Authorities also expect to collect about MOP4.2 million in taxes from horse racing, more 50 per cent than in 2018, and MOP2.9 million from Chinese lottery, more 30 per cent yearly.
