Macau | Gov’t to splash out MOP12.89 bln on social benefits – Policy Address 2018

Macau (MNA) – Increased from MOP12.4 billion last year, the Macau SAR Government will distribute some MOP12.89 billion in social benefits for fiscal year 2018, revealed the Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On during his delivery of policy address 2018 at the Legislative Assembly today.

Permanent Macau resident will continue to receive MOP9,000 and non-permanent residents to receive MOP5,400.

Medical coupons worth MOP600 will be allocated to permanent residents, with period for using coupon extended.

The subsidy scheme for the elderly – disbursed annually – will increase to MOP9,000 per resident aged over 65. For pensions, the amount remains at MOP3,450 per month.

Other schemes that have unchanged:

  • MOP10,000 as provident fund for newly qualified residents, with another MOP7,000 injected into accounts already opened;
  • 30 per cent deduction of professional tax as well as 60 per cent of tax refund to all taxpayers paying taxes this year;
  • MOP8,000 per year in ordinary subsidies for the disabled and MOP16,000 per year for special subsidies;

The MSAR Government is to increase salary points for Civil Servants to MOP85 from MOP83 this year, with the increase to start in January.

The Policy Address for 2018 exempts stamp duty for operating an auction business.
