Macau | Gov’t spent MOP580 mln in damage support for Typhoon Hato repairs

Macau (MNA) – The Macao Foundation spent some MOP580 million (US$71.73 million) to support residents who were affected by super Typhoon Hato last year, the Macao Foundation revealed on Sunday.

To support households who had their houses damaged during the passage of Typhoon Hato, the Foundation distributed MOP40.03 million to 5,665 approved applications.

The Foundation also gave out some MOP680,000 as medical subsidies to those who were injured during Typhoon Hato, as well as a total of MOP3 million provided as condolences to households of the ten victims who were killed.

Meanwhile, the Foundation also compensated 211,000 households for losses, by subsidising them MOP500 per household to pay for water bills, and 215,000 households by providing MOP1,500 per household to pay for electricity bills.

Some MOP1.05 billion was also disbursed to cultural and educational institutions to replace and repair damaged facilities.
