Macau | Guangdong-Macau cooperative to broaden Traditional Chinese Medicine reach to ASEAN

Macau (MNA) – The Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (GMTCM Park) has recently sponsored the 2018 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (Thailand), with the aim of helping China with its goal to open 30 overseas traditional Chinese medicine centres along countries linked up by ‘One Belt, One Road’ (OBOR).

In addition, the GMTCM Park is to host the 2018 China (Macao) International Cooperation Forum on traditional medicine in Macao in September this year.

In a welcome speech at 2018 the Traditional Medicine International Development Forum, chairman of GMTCM, Lu Hong says that Macau playing a role as an intermediary between China and the rest of the world.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the areas that Macau can develop while attempting to diversify the economy, he added.

In recent years, there has been efforts by China to modernize traditional Chinese medicine through organizations such as the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), a non-government organization which falls under the World Health Organization (WHO).

Macau has recently stepped up investment into the traditional Chinese medicine sector, spending RMB600 million (US$93.9 million) for land rights to establish a traditional Chinese medicine park in Hengqin.
