Macau | Smoking infractions in casinos total 665 in Jan-May – Health Bureau

Macau (MNA) – The Health Bureau (SS) filed 665 smoking infractions in casinos during the first five months, some 401 more than in the same period a year ago.

Of the total infractions filed in casinos, 628 cases involved men and 37 involved women, with 587 charged being tourists.

Overall, the SS filed 2,278 illegal smoking cases in prohibited public areas for the first five months of this year, with the number dropping 1,106 compared to the same period last year.

The SS also revealed that about 1,867 charged persons had paid the fine.

Since January 1, 2018, the city has enacted a new smoking ban forbidding smoking within 10 metres of bus stops with fines for infringement having increased from MOP600 to MOP1,500.
