Macau | HZMB driving quota ‘non-transferable’ – Transport Bureau

The individual or company quotas granted to Macau private cars drive in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge are non-transferable, the Transport Bureau confirmed to MNA on Wednesday

Macau (MNA) – The individual or company quotas granted to Macau private cars to drive in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) are ‘non-transferable,’ the Transport Bureau (DSAT) confirmed to Macau News Agency (MNA) on Wednesday.

‘Each individual quota is allowed to have a maximum of two drivers, but the holder of this type of quota must be one of the drivers,’ clarified the Bureau in its written reply to MNA.

Under this condition, the main holder of the quota can still replace the other driver listed under the same quota, the vehicle originally registered, or the original car licence plate number by paying a replacement fee of MOP1,000 as stated earlier by the DSAT.

The Bureau said further that the holder of a company quota – for which three designated drivers can be appointed – also has the right to replace the drivers, vehicle or licence plate, insofar as the new drivers are ‘employees of the company concerned’ and the new vehicles, presumably, belonging to the company as well.

On Monday, the Macau SAR Government announced that the price for the one-year permit to drive in the super bridge was set at MOP30,000, having opened the bid for applications today until June 26.

The total of 600 licences – 300 for private cars and 300 for companies – will be attributed by lottery on June 29.
