Macau | Kindergarten children in sexual assault case show no signs of abuse – Police

Macau (MNA) – Macau police authorities told Macau News Agency (MNA) that medical examinations conducted in the public hospital Conde S. Januário (CHCSJ) on two young girls said to have allegedly suffered sexual assault by an employee at the kindergarten D. José da Costa Nunes did not show any signs of abuse.

“This morning we invited a man back to our police headquarters for investigation. At this stage, he is assisting us in our investigation and is not a suspect at the moment,” the Judiciary Police Community Policing and Public Relations Division told MNA.

Judiciary Police (PJ) announced earlier today that it was investigating complaints filed on Tuesday related to a possible sexual abuse case involving two children and an employee of a local kindergarten, confirming a story first reported by Portuguese newspaper Hoje Macau this morning.

Representatives from the school had informed MNA that the accused employee is a 30-year old Filipino man who has worked in the institution as an attendant since 2015.

Under the Macau criminal law, sexual abuse of children under 14-years of age involving penetration can incur on a sentence between 3 and 10 years, with ‘relevant’ sexual abuse without penetration incurring on a sentence between 1 and 8 years.

The school director, Marisa Peixoto, also told us today that the parents of one of the children went to the school on Tuesday morning to file a complaint, adding they would also file a complaint with the PJ.
