Macau (MNA) – Legislator Ho Ion Seng has presented a written enquiry to the Macau SAR Government urging the latter to provide an official Chinese version of the General Regulation of Urban Constructions.
In the interpellation made public on Wednesday – submitted to the Legislative Assembly (AL) on Friday – Mr. Ho stated that it is ‘unacceptable’ for the law to be available in only one language, which is Portuguese, since it was enacted in 1963.
Engineer officers only have access to the informal texts in Chinese, who are often having difficulties to understand the sketch drawing rules due to the poor quality of the informal translation.
Ho claimed additionally that this is directly affecting the efficiency of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) and delaying the approval time for related constructions.
