Macau | Local airport reaches passenger record on CNY

The Macau International Airport handled 180,000 passengers and over 1,300 flight movements in the Chinese New Year period between February 5 to 10 February, a record for the local airport

Macau (MNA) – The Macau International Airport (MIA) received 180,000 passengers and handled over 1,300 flight movements in the Chinese New Year period between February 5 to 10 February, a record for the local airport and a 18 per cent year-on-year increase – both in passenger numbers and flights – from the Spring Festival of last year.

According to numbers released by Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. (CAM) daily passenger traffic numbers also broke a record on February 10, with over 32,100 passengers.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Macau (AACM) had approved a total of 198 extra and charter flights to and from Mainland China, Taiwan China, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan.

CAM also noted that China Southern Airlines and Juneyao Airlines will also add new routes to Macau in the second quarter of 2019, new carriers  expected to gradually add new routes and operations to Macau until the third quarter of this year.
