Macau | Local and Hong Kong financial institute inked MoU on introducing bankers certifying system

Macau (MNA) – The Macau Institute of Financial Services (MIFS) and the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) signed an co-operation memorandum on Friday for the implementation of Hong Kong’s certifying system for local bankers.

W H Yeung, general manager of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, explained on a sideline during the event on Friday that Certified Banker, the certifying system, is considered of having the same recognition as a master degree in Hong Kong.

The agreement signed on Friday between the two institutes would allow workers who engaged in the financial sector in Macau to receive related courses under the same curriculum in Hong Kong. Currently, Macau students need to take the course and related examination in Hong Kong.

According to MIFS, there are 88 students received the recognition from HKIB this year.

As of now, there are some 1,200 members of HKIB are from Macau, and 700 of which have already obtained certifications awarded by both MIFS and HKIB.
