Macau | Golf Masters welcomes intellectually disabled from around the world

Macau (MNA) – The Macau Golf Masters this year welcomed groups and associations from around the world, Stefan Kuehn, vice-president of the organiser, the Charity Association of Macau Business Readers, told Macau News Agency (MNA).

The event – which started on Wednesday – is a three-day golf tournament, followed by other sports such as Badminton, soccer, table tennis and basketball, which seeks to raise awareness of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

“Before, the golf event was a standalone event but now it’s a workshop in the whole Conference which is called Inclusive Education, Sports & Social Media,” said Mr. Kuehn. “More than 1,200 students from Macau have joined our Conference in our workshops so far.”

Dancing, painting, music are some of the workshops that complement the full 5-day event, with a total of 1,200 people involved.

“[The events] are so much bigger […], much more varied, and many more people are involved,” said the organiser.

He also revealed that more local corporate players are getting involved in the Macau Golf Masters, adding that the sources of sponsorship are wider this year.

“The whole event is based upon sponsorship, from the Macau Government and from Macau’s local corporates,” said Mr. Kuehn, adding that the sponsorship amount had not increased despite an increase in the number of sponsors.

He said that the sponsorships are used for accommodating participants from around the world in 5-star hotels and treating them to the best culinary offerings in Macau as well as equipping participants with the very best golf equipment.

The Macau Golf Masters is being held at Caesars Golf Macau, with athletes and coaches from 17 countries.
