Macau (MNA) – A man suspected of throwing boiling oil and corrosive liquid cleaner at his spouse has been sent by police authorities to the Public Prosecutor’s Office charged with committing aggravated bodily harm.
According to Judiciary Police (PJ), during an argument on July 12 a 40-year old man threw the liquids at his wife, who suffered burns on 45 per cent of her body and could succumb to blindness.
The spouse had requested a divorce in 2016, which had been denied by the husband. During the ensuing argument the couple’s domestic worker also suffered injuries from the dangerous substances
Due to this serious act the man was placed in preventive detention by police authorities and will now face charges from the Prosecutor’s Office which could lead to a prison sentence of two to 10 years or more if it is proved that the act was conducted with serious malicious intent.
