Macau | Some MOP2 billion have already been provided for the construction of the Islands District Medical Complex

Macau (MNA) – Of that total, MOP1.1 billion have been used for the development of the building’s foundations, some MOP600 million for the infrastructure of the Nursing College and MOP300 million paid for the work of quality control of the constructions.

The Secretary was speaking after a meeting of the follow-up committee for land and public concessions on Wednesday.

The medical complex is composed by the general hospital building and six support buildings, with only the construction of the Nursing College having started.

In November, three contracts related to the construction of the nursing institute were granted by the government, with the total amount involved in the contracts reaching around MOP617.17 million.

The Nursing College is set to be completed in the third quarter of 2019, with the MSAR Chief Executive (CE), Fernando Chui Sai On Sai, having said in this year’s policy address that he hoped the medical complex would be finished by the last year of his term.

Although the Health Bureau had previously stated that the foundations for all the buildings had been completed, the Secretary informed today the foundations of the rehabilitation hospital were still incomplete.
