Macau (MNA) – More than 1.21 million visitors entered Macau in the Chinese New Year holiday period between February 4 and 10, a 26.6 per cent increase from the same period last year.
February 7 saw the largest daily visitation numbers, with 226,874 people entering Macau that day.
Of the total visitor numbers in these five days, the number of Mainland Chinese visitors went up 25.6 per cent from the Spring Festival period of last year to some 899,290 or 74.1 per cent of the total.
More than half of all Chinese visitors came to Macau through the Gongbei Border Gate, with 95,500 coming through the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, more than the total amount of visitors coming through the Outer Harbour or Taipa Ferry terminals.
Last Friday the Macao Government Tourism Office Director said that visitor numbers registered for the CNY holiday period so far have been “way above” previous estimates, with record visitation numbers expected.
