Macau | New local Apple store to focus on community engagement and education

Macau (MNA) – The second store by American technology multinational Apple to open in Macau will focus on community engagement, company representatives informed in an media event this Wednesday.

The store located at the Sands China property Sands Cotai Central is set to open on June 29 at 6:0pm and will be the company’s 50th store in the Greater China Region.

Some 150 store employees will be working in the store with half joining from other Apple stores around the world.

Company representatives stated during the event that the store will hold several education session during the day at the store’s forum, open to anyone, with classes on photography, music, art, architecture, music, coding, design and fitness also available.

Professional teachers will also be invited to learn how to incorporate technology in their classes.

 

The store will also have a boardroom on its 3rd floor where training will be provided to  entrepreneurs or small enterprises.[Corrected]

In 2017 Apple announced its stores would start organising hands-on educational sessions called Today on Apple, in which trained team members or other professionals and artists would provide free training.

The Apple store located at Galaxy Macau was said to have had around 10,000 people attend its sessions since they started operations one year ago, in June, 2016.

Boardroom

The new space was designed by British architectural design and engineering firm Foster + Partners.

The store’s façade is composed of a stone and glass composite manufactured in Switzerland which fuses one layer of glass inside two one-millimetre layers of stone light change purposes and a feature said to be unique to this particular store.

Other unique features of the store include a bamboo grove imbedded in the space and an 8k video wall said to be largest of any Apple store around the world.
