Macau | No abnormalities regarding levy of property leasing taxes – Financial Department

Macau (MNA) – No abnormalities were found after the implementation of measures for levying property leasing taxes, according to a response by the Financial Services Bureau (DSF) to an interpellation made by legislator Lam Lon Wai.

The legislator was enquiring of the government department in regard to recent changes following the implementation of measures that aim to curb property transactions in the city.

The DSF stated that enquiries made by landlords mainly referred to application and cheque procedures of tax rebate, claiming that tax payers are well informed of the revision of the property arrangement.

Passed and effective since last month, the policy measures require landlords to pay six per cent of tax for units awaiting leasing.

Meanwhile, the department could not confirm the date for conducting a study on levying taxes for empty units, explaining that more time is needed for more detailed planning, given that the study addresses different technical matters and different opinions from society.

The DSF also revealed the intention to introduce a set of questions online regarding the payment of stamp duty of either 5 per cent or 10 per cent for flat buyers who already own one house or more.
