Macau | Number of commercial flights to and from Mainland China and Thailand go up in 2018, flights to Taiwan, South Korea and Vietnam go down

Macau (MNA) – The number of commercial flight trips made through the Macau International Airport went up 13.1 per cent year-on-year to at the Macau International Airport to 62,048 trips.

The number of flights to and from Mainland China and Thailand went up by 20.9 per cent to 2,226 trips and 20.8 per cent to 604 trips, respectively.

However flights in 2018 to and from South Korea and Vietnam fell by 15.5 per cent to 443 trips and 8.8 per cent to 184 trips, respectively, with flights to Taiwan dropping slightly to 1,170, the second largest commercial flight amount at the MIA in 2018.

Helicopter flights between the city and Mainland China and Hong Kong went up 2.7 per cent to 13,089 trips last year.

Ferry trips to and from Mainland China or Hong Kong dropped 5.1 per cent year-on-year to 131,740, with ferry trips involving Hong Kong  going down 1.9 per cent to 111,186.

Cross-border vehicular traffic rose by 2.3 per cent to more than 4,92 million trips, 30.5 per cent passing through the Cotai Lotus Border checkpoint and 68.3 per cent through the Gongbei Border Gate.

A total of 23,574 vehicle crossing were registered at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge checkpoint since its opening for traffic on October 24.
