Macau | Opening of the new business jet hangar at Macau International Airport delayed

Macau (MNA) – “The construction is basically completed but Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. [CAM] is still waiting for certifications. You can see the outside [of the hangar] still has some damage from Typhoon Hato, so they need some time to repair it before officially certifying it,” said Mr. Chan.

Initially expected to be operational in the second quarter of this year, the new hangar has been undergoing fire inspections, and the date for launching operations is pending the Fire Services Bureau’s decision, the AACM has repeatedly told MNA since April of this year.

The Swiss airline company Jet Aviation was granted a 10-year concession to operate the new maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) facilities, which are expected to help alleviate congestion at other airports in the region.

The contract requires the company to rent out half of the new 8,000-square metre hangar in addition to 1,000 square metres of workshop and office space.
