Macau Pass eyes using phones as stored-value cards

Macau Pass SA wants to introduce a new system to Macau that will allow people to use their mobile phones as stored-value cards for catching buses, parking their cars and shopping for groceries. The issuer of Macau Pass cards aims to have the system up and running this year, our sister publication Business Daily reports. Macau Pass deputy general manager David Lao told the English language newspaper that the company was negotiating with some of the city’s telecommunications companies about developing a SIM card for mobile phones with the functions of a Macau Pass card. He declined to say which companies Macau Pass was negotiating with, or how much the company is investing in this project.
