Macau | Robert Huff becomes the most decorated driver in the history of the Grand Prix

Macau (MNA) – “We had a rough race yesterday and the boys did just a wonderful job to fix the car. We had a lot of luck but Macau has always been good to me, nine wins is pretty incredible for myself. I just seem to get very lucky here, just not on the casinos,” Huff said after the race.

In rain soaked race, the British driver managed to keep his initial pole position, crossing the finishing line with his Münnich Motorsport Citroën C-Elysée with a best time of 2:48.223.

“I never had a wet race here, but of course I was the first guy to arrive at every corner. The championship hasn’t gone as we wanted but we’ll do our best. We have the heaviest car in the grid with 1,350 kilos, it will be tough but first things first, big party in Macau,” he added.

In second came Hungarian driver Norbert “Norbi” Michelisz, winning a podium position for the Castrol Honda WTC Team, with British driver Tom Chilton managing another win from Citroën.

Chilton managed to retake the third position after Argentinean driver Esteban Guerrieri – at the helm of the Honda Civic of last year’s winner of the Macau Guia Race Portuguese Tiago Monteiro – overtook him at the 7th lap, to lose it afterwards in the last laps.

The current leader of this year’s WTCC championship, Thed Bjork, only managed a 5th position with his Volvo S60.

In championship terms, Bjork currently has 255.5 points, whith “Norbi” with 6 and a half points less. Farther back, Bennani is 39.5 and Nicky Catsburg 44 points.
