Macau | September to see 20 pct y-o-y rise in gaming revenues – Brokerage

Macau (MNA) – Morgan Stanley analysts estimate September will see gross gaming revenues post a 20 per cent annual increase, with results from the third quarter of the year to go up 16 per cent.

These estimates would mean September recording a ‘robust’ MOP25.63 billion (US$3.17 billion), with results for the third quarter to be around MOP77.72 billion.

Morgan Stanley indicated that September results should be helped by the Mid-Autumn Festival, which took place in October last year but believe that the five weekends in this month will not contribute a great deal since the 29-30 September weekend will be working days in China due to the holiday arrangement for National Day Golden Week.

The firm also considers that the 17 per cent yearly rise to MOP26.6 billion registered in August was ‘slightly higher’ than consensus expectation of 15 per cent, altough last year’s results were impacted by the passage of Typhoon Hato.

Morgan Stanley analysts also believe that the VIP and mass markets will post an annual increase of around 10 per cent in August, with the month registering an average daily revenue of MOP857 million.
