Macau (MNA) – The Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM) announced on Thursday that it will introduce a new ‘energy shuttle bus service’ starting from May 2018, with the number of new energy buses to be increased by phases.
The company claimed it will run its service with electric buses and compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, some of which have provisions for standing passengers for the benefit of extra capacity.
The company is the latest to announce it is committed to comply with environmental policies dedicated to improving air quality in the city, claiming it supports the Secretariat for Transport and Public Works and the Transport Bureau ‘in achieving the target of gradually replacing the entire shuttle bus fleet of casino operators by new energy buses.’
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited has also announced this week it will be putting 20 free-emission shuttles on the road.
SJM did not specify the number of buses it will put on the road next month.
‘SJM believes that the above measures will optimize Macau’s transportation, and enhance the overall environment for residents and visitors, while supporting Macau’s development into a world-class green tourism city,’ the company noted in the press release.
