Macau (MNA) – Around 60 per cent of replacement for the antihypertensive drug Valsartan has been claimed, according to the leatest release by the Health Bureau (SS).
Some 1,238 patients registered with the health system had to swap out their existing Valsartan medication due to the presence of some impurities of N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), although shipments had only arrived in Macau on July 11 due to a supply shortage.
According to the release, as of July 13 at 5pm, some 732 patients had claimed the replacement for the medication, which amounts to 59 per cent of local users.
The SS urges those who have yet to obtain replacements to take their identity card and go to the specialist clinics or the health centre at Public Hospital Conde Sao Januário (CHSCJ) to obtain a prescription from Monday to Friday.
The Bureau urges that patients continue to use their existing medication before switching to the substitute.
