Macau | Ten illegal immigrants caught harvesting oysters without entry permit

Ten illegal immigrants have been arrested whilst harvesting oysters on the artificial island located at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge without a valid entry permit

Macau (MNA) – Ten illegal immigrants were arrested whilst harvesting oysters on the artificial island located at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) without a valid entry permit to the city, according to a statement released by Macau Customs on Friday.

The migrants – ten men aged between 28 and 46 – were all from Mainland China working as seafood porters in Zhuhai City. They were arrested on Wednesday.

They claimed that since all fishing operations would be suspect during the fishing moratorium they were looking for job opportunities somewhere else.

A Mainlander then hired them to harvest oysters on the artificial island located off the Hong HZMB.

They are facing charges of illegal entry, with Macao Customs already having transferred the cases to the Public Security Police Force (PSP).
