Macau | Typhoon Signal No. 3 hoisted up to 10:00 am today – Weather Bureau

Macau (MNA) – A tropical cyclone alert Signal No. 3 was still hoisted on Wednesday morning, the latest tropical cyclone advisory bulletin issued by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) at 07:05 stated.

Signal No.3 remained in effect up to 10:00am today.

At 07:00 am, tropical storm ‘Son-Tinh’ was estimated to be about 530 kilometres southwest of Macau, moving away from the city, and forecast to move westwards at around 30 kilometres per hour.

Local winds will remain, with sustained speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour expected or blowing. Gusts may exceed 110 kilometres per hour.

Temporary squally showers may occur, being affected by strong rainbands.

With winds over the bridges expected to be strong and gusty, drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic safety. In particular, motorcyclists should travel between the Peninsula and Taipa via the motorcycle lane on Sai Van Bridge.

The public is advised to be vigilant, pay attention to SMG warnings, and check the stability of doors, windows and items on balconies, as well as keeping drains clear.

Other precautionary measures for Signal No. 3 include ensuring the safety of marine vessels and the stability of offshore facilities – vessels should seek shelter – as well as the stability of containers and other facilities to prevent being blown down by strong winds.
