Macau | Typhoon Signal No. 9 hoisted, Typhoon Mangkhut at 210 km

Macau (MNA) – The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) Typhoon announced that Typhoon Signal No. 9 was hoisted at 09:00am with Signal No. 10 to be raised at 11:00am as wind speed continues to intensify.

As of 09:00 hours the super Typhoon Mangkhut was about 210 km southeast of Macau, and was approaching the territory.

Although the storm has weakened slightly, it continues to cause great threat to the territory and the regions of the mouth of the Pearl River, the SMG indicated.

Typhoon Mangkhut is expected to approach the territory and around noon cross the nearest point of Macau at about 100 kilometres.

The wind will range between 63 – 118 km/h or more, with heavy and frequent downpours.

The red Storm Surge warning is still in effect, with severe flooding expected to occur in low-rise areas starting from 12:00pm of this Sunday.

The water level may reach as high as 2.0 or 2.5 meters above the pavement.
