Macau (MNA) – The Macau SAR Government is gauging the possibility of submitting the soon-to-be-commissioned urban renewal study for public consultation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Urban Renewal Committee’s first plenary session of the year on Tuesday, the chairman of the committee and Secretary for Land and Public Works, Raimundo Arrais do Rosário, stated that the committee has not yet reached that stage.
“As mentioned in previous meetings, we plan to first conduct a study about the directions to follow with regard to the question of urban renewal,” Mr. Rosário said.
“Today, verifying the scope of this study and the aims we intend to achieve with it, occupied a lot of our time,” he added.
The Secretary explained that members of the committee had expressed different views during the meeting and that they will now have around ten days to send their opinions to the Secretary’s Office, until the next meeting takes place.
“We will meet again to see if we can reach consensus about the aims of this study and the scope of this work, in order to launch a consultation process and commission the works,” the Secretary stated.
He did not provide further details about the timeframe for the study to be concluded within, nor did he reply to questions about the setting up of the wholly-owned government company that will provide urban renewal services.
