Macau | US screenwriter Paul Schrader and HK filmmaker Mabel Cheung in Macau Film Festival jury – media

Macau (MNA) – US screenwriter and director Paul Schrader, Hong Kong filmmaker Mabel Cheung, Indian actress Tillotama Shome and Australian producer Paul Currie will be members of the 2018 International Film Festival and Awards ∙ Macau (IFFAM) jury, The Hollywood Reporter indicated.

As previously reported, Chinese director Chen Kaige will act as Jury President for the festival to be held between December 4 and 18 of this year.

Mr. Schrader has worked as a screenwriter for filmmaker Martin Scorsese in films such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and The Last Temptation of Christ, with its most recent film, First Reformed, to be included in the festival line-up.

Hong Kong film director Mabel Cheung started her career in the 1980’s after an MFA program at New York University with two movies focused on the Chinese diaspora, Illegal Immigrant in 1985 and  romance An Autumn’s Tale in 1987, with Chow Yun-Fat and Cherie Chung, a box office hit that won Best Film at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Since then Ms. Cheung has collaborated with her husband and filmmaker, Alex Law, in movies such as historical epic, The Soong Sisters and independent drama Echoes of the Rainbow from 2010 which focused on a working-class family in 1960s Hong Kong and won he Crystal Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival.

Tillotama Shome is an Indian film actress that was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 63rd Filmfare Awards for her role in A Death In The Gunj, and known for her roles in Golden Lion winner Monsoon Wedding and Florian Gallenberger’s movie Shadows of Time.

Australian producer Paul Currie founder founded film and theatre production company Lightstream Entertainment in 2003, having produced and directed Australian feature film One Perfect Day. Since then he relocated the company to Los Angeles having been involved in productions Every Heart Beats True: The Jim Stynes Story and thriller 2:22.

American actor Nicholas Cage will be the Talent Ambassador of IFFAM’s third edition, together with Hong Kong star Aaron Kwok.
