Macau | Weekend fireworks display cancelled due to Typhoon Mangkhut

Macau (MNA) – On Wednesday, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced that the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest planned for (Saturday) September 15 will be cancelled due to inclement weather.

The French and Portuguese teams were slated for 21:00 pm and 21:40 pm, respectively. Due to expected unstable weather to be caused by the passage of Typhoon Mangkhut, however, their displays have been cancelled.

Super Typhoon Mangkhut is currently located in the northwest Pacific and is moving westwards towards Macau, with the storm expected to significantly affect coastal areas near Guangdong at the weekend, posing a serious threat to the Pearl River Delta.

According to weather forecasting service Windy, Typhoon Mangkhut will bring strong rain and winds to Macau around September 16 and 17 (Sunday and Monday).
