More than 15,000 housing units to top up property market

The 98 residential buildings under construction or completed but waiting for occupancy permits during the third quarter of the year will add around 15,120 housing units to the MSAR, according to the data of the Bureau of Land, Public Works and Transport (DSSOPT).
Of these residential buildings, 67 are located on the Macau Peninsula (12,127 units), four are in Taipa (338 units) and seven are in Coloane (274 units). In terms of parking spaces these projects will add 10,807 spaces for cars and 3,901 for motorcycles to the city.
The majority of housing units being built or awaiting occupancy permits – some 10,694 – had two or fewer bedrooms. Meanwhile, the number of units with three or more bedrooms was 2,095.
During the same period, nine residential buildings were completed, accounting for 490 housing units, 234 car parking spaces, and 119 spaces for motorcycles.
Regarding the residential projects being planned, there were 215 during the third quarter, which are expected to add to the housing market some 21,128 housing units. The number of car spaces for these units is 20,991 and for motorcycles is 9,782.
18 hotels under construction
According to DSSOPT, at the end of the third quarter there were a total of 18 hotels being built that will increase the number of rooms by 12,132. On Cotai alone the new projects, which include the constructions of the gaming operators, will increase the number of rooms by 10,244.
On the Macau Peninsula the number of rooms to be added will be 588, in Taipa 1,064, and in Coloane 236 rooms.
The gross floor area of the hotels already being built totals 1,045,886 square metres and will increase the number of parking spaces to 8,952, of which 5,794 are for cars and 3,158 for motorcycles.
Meanwhile, another 33 hotels are being planned and supposed to supply an extra 8,829 rooms, of which 3,354 will be on the Macau Peninsula, with 4,881 in Cotai, 126 in Taipa, and 468 rooms in Coloane.
The rooms of the 18 hotels under construction and 33 projects under planning will increase the existing hotel rooms from 29,977 to 50,938 room. At the same time, the number of hotels in the territory will increase from 103 to 154.
