The Border Gate to Zhuhai, Macau’s busiest checkpoint, is expected to have its operating times extended by two or three hours.
According to the head of the government’s Policy Research Office, Lao Pun Lap, this is expected to happen by the end of this year or by early 2012.
For now, an official proposal has yet to be submitted to the central government, he said.
Macau and Guangdong representatives will first hold work meetings following the signature of a co-operation framework agreement on Sunday to discuss this topic, said Mr Lao.
Currently, the Border Gate is open from 7am until midnight.
