Crimes go up

The number of crimes committed in Macau in the first nine months of 2011 went up by 5.9 percent, to almost 9,200.
Thefts cases rose by almost 16 percent to around 3,300 cases.
The secretary for security, Cheong Kuoc Va, said the increase in crimes was related to the growth in the number of tourists and imported workers.
He stressed that overall Macau is still a safe city.
